The association realized that the tape back-ups they had been using provided a degree of protection against data loss, but did not address crucial business continuity issues should a disaster strike. Working closely with Neverfail certified partner KeyTech Services, an IT consulting firm based in Alexandria, VA, NAIS recently implemented a disaster recovery system that includes five backup servers located near Dallas, Texas, and disaster recovery/high availability software solutions from the Neverfail Group. With Neverfail, the NAIS gains the assurance that users will maintain connections to the association’s vital business applications, even if servers at the primary site in Washington suffer a failure. With Neverfail, installation is much simpler, and the products deliver the protection we were looking for.” Because the NAIS has a growing membership base overseas, including schools and associations in Europe and Asia, the association’s global network of users requires a 24x7 availability of email, website access and data residing behind the website. “In the case of any disruption, day or night, failover and failback has to be automatic, successful and completely transparent to users,” Mendel says. “Only Neverfail fit our needs in these crucial areas as well.” KeyTech Services built the recovery servers in the NAIS Washington offices so that testing could be performed onsite. After determining that everything was working properly, says Phil Martens, KeyTech Services CTO, “We shipped the servers to Dallas and turned them on again. They came up without a hitch and immediately reestablished themselves with Washington over the WAN.” The NAIS purchased Neverfail solutions to protect its Exchange, IIS and SQL Server environments. If a system disruption occurs, the Neverfail solutions will automatically and seamlessly switch users over to the secondary servers in Dallas, providing users with continuous access to these vital business tools.
